Howdy friends, to celebrate Juneteenth and continue support for the revolution at hand, we’re releasing a new single “Ghosts Like Me” today on Bandcamp, with 100% of our proceeds (from this track and all of our Bandcamp catalog) being donated to Assata’s Daughters (
www.assatasdaughters.org) — a Black woman-led Chicago based activism organization organizing young Black people in Chicago to support a deepened and sustained Black liberation movement. This Juneteenth, and every Juneteenth from here on out, Bandcamp will be donating their share of sales to NAACP Legal Defense Fund. So whatever you purchase on Bandcamp today will help fund organizations fighting on the frontlines for racial justice! A couple artists we’ll be supporting on Bandcamp today are Tasha (@wowtashawow) and Ric Wilson (@ricwilsonisme), and you should support them too :^)
As non-Black folks, it is important to make sure to celebrate and reflect on this holiday in a way that uplifts and supports BlPOC, rather than appropriating a celebration which honors Black ancestry. White folks especially, take this day (and many more) to donate, sign petitions, read up on antiracist materials, and support Black-owned businesses.
Though Juneteenth is a celebration of Black liberation, it is also a reminder of the pervasive hold that systemic racism has on our nation and our collective liberation today. There’s a lot of work to do. This is just the beginning.
Black Lives Matter. Abolish the Police.
